Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I'm 14, a huge Rocky and ST fan, and I've been seeing this guy for two months. He's going to Scotland in four days and he won't make an effort to see me. We talk on the phone but I haven't seen him in two weeks. Have I lost him already?

Aoife, I won't lie to you and tell you that you haven't "lost him", but, without knowing him, there isn't a way for me to be sure. If he's going away for a long time, he might not be able to say goodbye and see the look in your eyes. There also is the possibility that he has been too busy to see you, but, since the two of you have talked on the phone, that probably isn't an answer. If you can, go over to his house and see if he can talk to you. This doesn't have to be a big date or anything like that. If he has the time to talk, tell him how you feel about him and then let him tell you his side of the story. Since he seems like he doesn't want to see you before he leaves, you might have to take the talking to him. But, be prepared that you might not like what he has to say. Always remember that you're young with the rest of your life ahead of you, so don't despair if he doesn't feel the same for you. If you need a shoulder to cry on, I'll always be here for you.
