Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I often fantasize about the characters in RHPS. One time, I told my boyfriend that sometimes, when we are making love, I think about them. And, half kidding and half serious, I asked him if he would mind dressing up as one of the characters, preferably Riff with me as Magenta. He became very offeneded and we haven't so much as kissed for two weeks. Can you help?

Audrey, to have sexual fantasies about film characters is a normal thing. There have been many film stars throughout history that would arouse their fans, from Rudolf Valentino to Tom Cruise. It is when you start to try to "flesh out" those fantasies is when many people get into trouble. One of the main problems is that what might be a desirable fantasy to you might not be for your boyfriend. This doesn't mean that your fantasy is bad or wrong. It's just that he doesn't share it with you. The next time you talk with him, ask him what his fantasy is. Let him tell you about it and why it interests him. If it's something that you might like to do, then try it. But, before you do it, ask him, "If I do this for you, will you do this for me?" This might sound like you're trying to force him into doing something he doesn't want to do, but it's really not. Once the two of you have talked about your fantasies, he might be a little more understanding and interested in helping to fullfill yours while you do the same for him. That way, you'll both get to live out your fantasies.
