Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I'm having trouble getting a cast together. Do you have any suggestions? -Magenta

Magenta, there are many different ways to recruit people for your cast. One way is to create a flyer advertising your cast and place it in areas, like colleges, clubs, and so on, where possible castmembers will be. Before you post them, I'd recommend calling the local police to find out if there are any laws about where you can post flyers and if you need any special permits. There are also many free bulletin boards and classifieds sections, like the one on this site, that you can place an add to. One last thing that you can do is to, if you already have a theatre and are performing, have your MC say in his monologue that you're looking for performers and to talk to you after the show. It may feel like an uphill battle, but, as you get more performers, a cast always picks up speed and it becomes easier to interest people in performing with you.
