Dear Nurse Ansalong:
The Tower Theatre, where I direct our Rocky cast, has limited it's showings to twice a year, instead of twice a month. What can I do to find another theatre to play the show? The little cast of horrors want to know.

Tigger, you and your cast, like many others, are about to begin one of the hardest searches you'll ever have to do. There are some casts who quickly find new homes, but for a large group, it's a long process. Even though it may be hard, always keep your hopes up. Check out the theatres in your area and get a list of the ones that you are interested in. Before you meet with anyone at the theatre, do a little research. See what films they tend to book and what area that they are in. Many of the most popular casts play in theatres that are close to college campuses, so keep location in mind. When you talk to the Theatre Manager, remember that you are basically selling him or her the movie and your show. You need to get them interested in having you there. Offer to have the cast help out the theatre, like creating and distributing any advertisements for your show. And, if your first choice rejects you, move onto the next. Depending on the area that you are in, it might be easier to perform in a smaller theatre to start with. If you can fill that theatre on a regular basis, then they might think that you can do the same in a larger theatre. As you do this, make sure that you do not get on bad terms with the Manager of your old theatre. Make sure that you keep your old home until you can get your new one.
