Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I have this computer that can print a picture out on a kind of paper that can put the picture on a t-shirt. Should I put the copyright on the t-shirt or do I not have to?

Magenter, going by the copyright laws, this site and any other Rocky site are, to a point, illegal. Copyright laws are very direct about the usage of copyrighted things. Unless you have the blessing of whoever holds the copyright, whatever you put out with that image, quote, etc could be looked at as illegal. The correct termanology for this is "infringing on the copyright". This tends to be brought up a lot when people are found selling "pirated" things, like t-shirts or videos. All of those people outside of the rock concerts selling the cheap shirts are all, if you follow the law directly, breaking the law. The copyright laws are the reason that you get the message at the beginning of every video tape warning about "reproduction, rebroadcast, or any other transmission without expressed written consent is prohibited".There have been many news reports lately about copyright problems and the web. Fans of Star Trek, X-Files, and the band Oasis have recieved emails telling them to remove any copyrighted material from their web sites or face legal action. For you, I would tell you to put the copyright on the shirt, but be careful with it. If you make any shirts, do not make a lot and do not sell them. Once money starts changing hands, big companies tend to start to pay closer attention to what is out there. The more people do things like what you want to do, the more Fox might think about guarding the Rocky copyright a little more.
