![]() Dear Nurse Ansalong: I've been trying to figure out a couple things about ROCKY; 1) During the dinner scene, Frank says "Go on Dr. Scott... or should I say Dr. Von Scott?", to which brad replies, "Just what exactly are you implying?" Well, I have the same quiestion. What was he implying?; 2) During the floor show when Riff and Magenta burst in and Frank says, "Wait! I can explain", what exactly is he explaining? I'm Going Home is a beautiful song, I just don't understand what it explains. -Frankie Fan Frankie Fan, I hope that I can answer your questions the way that you like them. So, here goes... 1) One of the big hidden threads in RHPS is the thought that Frank might have been on Earth for a long period of time and visited many different places. One of these places is rumoured to be World War II era Germany. Frank has the pink triangle on his lab outfit, which was used by the Nazis to mark gays as undesirables. This symbol and Frank's statement to Dr. Scott could be a sign that Frank has met Dr. Scott in a past that he would like no one to really remember at all. 2) While the chorus is about going home, all of the verses in I'm Going Home speak of Frank's possible regrets at the ways that he acted here on Earth. The song is his own personal reflections on why he is the person that he is and he sings it to try and tell everyone why he did it. Since he winds up getting killed following the song, it would seem that Riff was either not touched by the sentiment or, as most people believe, was planning to kill Frank from the moment that he busted through the doors. |
