Unlucky, I would definately say that you should keep on with this person and see what develops. From what you have told me here, it sounds like you two have made a good start, so there is the definate possibility of something more coming soon. One quick word of advice... I would take it a little slow until he actually comes out and tells you that he likes you. I know that you got your information from a good friend, but I think you might want to be sure of his feeling before you throw yourself at him. Whatever happens, good luck! ; )
