Dear Nurse Ansalong:

I'm 13 years old and for the last 2 years I have loved RHPS. Everyone around me thinks it's a phase and that I will never like it again. But, for me, it's not obsession; it's dedication. I've seen it on Broadway 3 times and have merchandise and everything! I even wear fishnet stockings to ballet and irish dancing classes! My parents won't let me join a cast until I'm 16 and it's so horrible having to wait three years! What can I do to convince them and what can I do to support ROCKY in the meantime?
-Aislynne

Aislynne, I know that you're a big fan of RHPS right now, but I actually kind of agree with your parents. In my years of being both a fan and a performer, I've come to the conclusion that 16 is the youngest a person should be to join a cast. Also, I think that 16 year olds, if allowed on the cast, should only be allowed to be a Technical Crew Member or a Transylvanian. It's not meant as a derogetory thing toward people under 16. With a show like RHPS, it helps to have those extra years of experience to handle all of the things that go on at a normal show.

Now, while you wait, I'd say for you to keep on doing exactly what you've been doing. Don't let some people telling you that this is all just a phase make you change. By showing to them that it's not a phase, they will realize just how important becoming a cast member would be for you. So don't let them get you down!
