![]() Dear Nurse Ansalong: I can defenitely say that I thought there was a population of about 1 of young kids obsessed with ROCKY HORROR. I am so relieved that there are so many us. To all of those who are around 12 or 13, it really is great and I totally support the fact that you all are able to enjoy it. There should be our own young ROCKY lovers website or somehting. But my question is, there are so many shallow people, that once they hear fishnets on a man, they freak out. How can we get friends and others to get over the fact that this movie is not a phase and there are drag queens in it? -Relieved Relieved, there is a saying that my grandfather always used to say about nothing being definate except for death and taxes. Well, they should have also included that, for every person that likes a certain thing, there will almost always be someone who doesn't. It all comes down to the person, what they enjoy, and what they are willing to give a try. The factor that makes this such a hard thing to work through is that it's very hard to change the feelings that a person has about something. You can try every way that you can think of to get them to watch or listen, but it could just wind up being a waste of your time. A lot of the times it seems like giving it another try could get you your desired response, but there is also a point where you need to cut your loses. This isn't meant to totally discourage you from trying to get more people interested in RHPS, but you've also got to be ready to accept that some people just won't be swayed by your arguements, no matter what you say. They might just not like the show or there could be extenuating circumstances that push them to not like the show when they hear some of the things that are involved. Either way, there is probably a point where you need to realize that they aren't going to change and move on to others. There are just some people that you can't reach. |
