Dear Nurse Ansalong:

All of my friends have boyfriends and I am happy for them, but they are busy people and they can't work at their jobs, do their homework, do stuff with their boyfriends AND do things with me. Basically, my friends never have time to hang out with me anymore and I am getting lonesome. Some people tell me that if I am so bored, I should get a boyfriend, but I don't really want one. What do you recommend I do?
-Frannie

Frannie, there are a couple things that you could do to get a little of your friends' attention and not have to go out and get a boyfriend of your own. If your dating friends are too busy to spend time with you, then you might want to look into meeting some new friends. These people wouldn't replace your old friends, but with these new friends you will get to spend the time that you would have been spending with your dating friends. Another idea would be to try to plan ahead with your friends to spend time with them. It might seem to be like a lot of work just to hang out, but this way your friends could plan out their schedules so that they can give both you and their significant other some of their time. And, if none of these plans work, there are things that you could do on your own that will fill up your free time. Everything from shopping to reading to going to a movie can be done just as easily alone as it would have been with the other person. I'm not sure if these ideas will totally relieve your boredom, but I hope that they will help out just a little bit.
