Dear Nurse Ansalong:

What would you do if you had a friend who was only there for you half the time and always chose their "significant other" over their friends?
-Bob

Bob, if this happened to me, I would call this person not the friend that I thought he/she was. It's understandable if someone wants to spend time with the person that they are dating, but if this person avoided me on a continual basis in the way that you seem to be saying, then this person might not be as good a friend of yours as you thought. Before you do anything rash like cutting the person totally out of your life, tell them how you feel about the way that they are acting and see what happens. If the behavior continues, then you might want to look around for a new friend to count on.
