Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I own RHPS on video and want to see it in the theatre, but the nearest show is an hour away in a big city. My parents won't take me, and my friends can't get theirs to either. My Mom has seen it and liked it, so I know that it's not an objection to the film. I'm trying to get a theatre in our area to show it, but I haven't recieved a response yet. It's so frustrating. People keep judging RHPS before seeing it. What can we do to get more people to see it and tell the theatres that they want them to play it?

AM, you have one of the most commonly asked questions in the "Rocky World". Most cast and audience members know how much fun Rocky is. The thing that we all have to remember is that, as the promotional line goes, "Rocky Horror is the most successful cult film in history". The fact that it is a cult film means that there are some people who, for whatever reason, just don't get it. They tend to look at, as my Mother said once, "The Cult Of Rocky" and don't see what we do. Neither person is wrong or strange for their belief. I bet there are many things, like a favorite sports team, that your parents are totally devoted to, but you have no interest in. The first thing that you need to do is not give up. Even if it seems like it'll never happen, people will start to see the work that you are doing and stop to see what you're doing. Another thing that you could do is to "marshall your forces". Find the people that you know feel the same as you and work together for the common goal. If you can't get a Theatre Manager near you to listen, then try looking into other places. A college is a great place to try. If you can get a show there and have it sell well, the Theatre Managers might just turn around and take more notice. Since your Mother said that she liked the film, you can always try to get her to help you. Some adults will listen to another adult telling them something that they wouldn't if it came from a younger person. I wish you luck in getting a theatre, and don't give up!
