Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I have already been to the movie theater to see RHPS, (my Dad took me). I really enjoyed and I think my Dad did too. I want to go again and take some of my friends with me. The problem is my Mom doesn't want me to take some of my friends. She doesn't really mind if I go again. The friends I want to take have already seen the film and their parents don't care if they go the the theater to see it as long as there is an adult with us. Is there any way I can get my mom to change her mind or get her to see that my friends' parents are O.K. with going?
-Frannie
Frannie, your Mom might just be worried that the people that you'd be seeing the film with might not be, as my Mom used to say, "a bad influence on you". To win her over, you could always try to arrange for your Mom to talk to your friends' parents either in person or on the phone. That way, she can understand everything a little bit better and not feel nervous about these kids whose parents seemingly don't care if they see RHPS. You could also ask your Dad to be the adult to go with this group. Since your Mom knows the parent that'll be watching over all of you, she might not mind you going with these friends. Get your Mom around the parents of your friends and I think that it'll all be okay.
