Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I like this guy and I really want him, but I dont know what to do. One of my friends told him I liked him, but he hasn't mentioned it to me. Does this mean he's not interested? Or should I just go for it? The problem is we're both really shy, so this is a huge problem.

Janet, it's okay to be shy and confused around people that you have really strong feelings for. When we're attracted to someone, our feelings get totally twisted around and around until it feels like they're tied up at the bottom of your stomach. If he doesn't seem to be reacting to what your friend told him, it could be a couple different reasons. First off, since you said that both of you are shy, he might be too nevvous around you to say how he truely feels. Also, he might not believe what your friend said about you, so he just goes along like the two of you always have. There is still also the possiblity that he might not feel the same way as you do.
Whatever the case, there is something that you can do. It might take a lot of getting ready on your part, but you could always see if he would like to hang out with you. This doesn't have to be a date of any kind. It could be that you want to go to the mall and ask him if he wants to go with you. This was, the two of you are in a public place with a lot of things going on around you. In an environment like this, you have enough people around you to keep from feeling totally alone with the other person and there will always be something for the two of you to talk about.
I hope that the two of you get to spend a little time getting to know each other really soon... ; )
