Dear Nurse Ansalong:
In ST, when the security guard turns on the lights to wake everybody up the next morning after "Lullaby", what is the meaning of the bird he holds up? Is it a reference to the albatross in "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" that Betty attempts to recite for Judge Wright? And why does Betty freak out about it? Just the fact that it's a dead bird?

Columbia, you just answered your own questions. Yes, the bird is a reference to the poem that she was reading and she does freak out about it. If someone held up a large dead bird at you, wouldn't you be a little freaked out? ; )
