Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I am the director of a cast and we have a member who acts like they're the director. This person tells us all what we'll be doing, who will be who, if we'll use throw-ins, etc. It's getting to the point where nobody seems to listening to what I have to say. Everytime I disagree with this person's ideas about the show, this person tells me to shut up, yet I have had more experience by several years with RHPS than this person. I can't just kick this person off cast, because they're really important. Any ideas for how I can reclaim my throne in Frank's castle?
-Dethroned

Dethroned, if you're the Cast Director, then you shouldn't have to take the crap that you have received from this person. Unless this person was appointed or elected to a certain position, then he/she should be made to understand who is supposed to be in charge. If you don't use the power that your position gives, then this other could wind up taking it all away from you.

If you don't want to go the direct way but still want to get him to stop, you might want to try to pull this person off to the side to remind him/her that you are the one who should be doing that and that, from now of, you will be. You could even offer this person some incentives to keeping in mind the management set-up. Maybe you could appoint this person as your assistant and let them do the current jobs that this person is working.

Whatever you do, you need to make sure that your cast as a whole understands who is in charge and who will make the decisions. Don't let this person nudge you out of a job. I'd never let that happen.
