Eddie, it was always a sad moment every week when I had to be killed by the Riffs that I have performed with. For awhile, I couldn't figure out why Riff would feel the need to kill Columbia. It just didn't seem logical. Then, I realized that the reason why Columbia was killed isn't meant to be logical. To me, Columbia's scream freaks out an already stressed out Riff and he basically flips out for a moment. He might be thinking that Columbia is going to try and stop him from killing Frank or he could have just been surprised from hearing the scream. Whichever of those explanations for the reason that he actually shot her, an already slightly stressed and unhinged Riff was probably the person that Columbia shouldn't have screamed at at that point in time.
