Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I love ROCKY HORROR, and I know I am obsessed. My friends think I am ridiculous and always roll their eyes or start to laugh when I talk about ROCKY HORROR (they dont like the movie) and it is really starting to annoy me. Plus they make fun of me and I sometimes get really hurt by what they say. I know I need to talk to them and I have tried but they will overreact and start to tell me I am a "witch". Now all I want to do is to get rid of them, but how do I do that without making a bad reputation for myself, and, if i successfully get rid of them, how do I make new friends?
-Frannie
Frannie, I don't think that it would hurt your reputation if you decided to hang out with different people. It won't do you any good for your own peace of mind if you continue to spend time with these suppossed friends who can't accept you for who you are. Since you said that you've already tried to talk reasonably with them about this and that they weren't interested in listening, then it looks like it's time to find a new group to hang out with.
That being said, finding friends could be hard but there are ways to try. If there's a showing and a live cast near you, you could try to meet people on the cast or in the audience at the show. This way, you would know that they feel the same way about RHPS as you do. If there isn't a regular show near you, try sending out a message in areas like Cosmos' Classified Section or on the newsgroup explaining what you're looking for. Also, look into the RHPS related chat rooms, like this site's Zen Room, to meet people from near you or on the other side of the world. It might seem hard, but there are ways to find friends out there that share your love of RHPS.
