Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I am a HUGE fan of Frank N Furter and have been told that I would be perfect for the part (despite the fact that I am female) because I can make the right facial expressions ( I make a lot of the same Frankspressions as Tim Curry even when I'm not acting the part) and I can copy Tim Curry's accent pretty well. The problem is I need a cast to join. I'm pretty sure I could find one in my area, so what I want to know is; What are the requirements for joining a cast? Is there a certain age/etc. you have to be? I've been in a musical play before, so I know my singing must not be too bad. Please help! I really feel I could bring Frank N Furter to life on the stage because, like him, I am an outcast and I really cry when I sing "I'm Going Home"

Frankie, sorry to disappoint you, but the rules about joining a cast tend to vary greatly from cast to cast. There are some casts that only allow people over 18 to join, while others will take anyone whose interested. What you need to do is, before or after the next show that you attend, try talking to a cast member to see what their cast's rules are for joining. Also, be ready to not be playing Frank as quickly as you wished. Some casts have the new recruits start out as Trannies first and then work their way up to larger parts. The cast you'd be joining could already have enough regular performing Franks and not need another one right now, so you could be asked to take up another part until the one that you want opens up. Finally, try not to get discouraged if you don't get to play the part that you want right away. If you keep working at it and prove to the cast that you're devoted, you might find yourself up on stage singing "I'm Going Home" sooner than you might think.
