Dear Nurse Ansalong:
Is Janet really a slut or a good girl corrupted by Frank? Or is it better that she (at the end of RHPS) is comfortable with sexuality? Was she unhappy before? Granted, she was not totally on equal terms with Brad and was sort of his "doll," but she seemed (to me) content with being a pure, innocent type. And why doesn't Brad accept sexuality at the end? Isn't it kind of sad that Janet has a happier ending than Brad, even if you count Superheroes? These are all opinion questions without absolute answers, but I'd like to hear what you think. Also, is there any evidence that Betty and Ralph had a wedding reception after their wedding? Where do you think they went on their honeymoon?
-Peek-a-blue

Peek-a-blue, personally, I think Janet had her sexual side in her all of the time, but it took the night at the castle to bring it out. Notice that, during the Creation Scene, it looks like she's getting into what's going on a lot more than Brad is. Brad seems, for lack of a better term, the "straight man" in this story. Every character in the Floor Show has their own personal feeling towards what's going on, and Brad's is confusion. While Janet and Rocky let their minds be taken away by their emotions, Brad is the one left to think about what's happening to everyone. It is kind of a sad way to have the film end the way that it does, including Superheroes, but it fits into the way that the story and characters progressed and within one of the basises of the story itself. Throughout the film, there are continual references to old horror films, stories, and ideas that pop up, and the sad ending, with the heroes escaping but being forever changed by their experiences fits right into the ending. I don't remember any mention of a reception for Ralph and Betty, but maybe, for their honeymoon, they got "a leisurly stay in that evergreen show, Happy Homes"... ; )
