Dear Nurse Ansalong:
My boyfriend Leo is a natural flirt. Everyday my friends tell me how he's really friendly to other girls. (They flirt back also) I don't want him to be like that at all. I want him to be like that to me only. Whenever I try to confrount him with being "pverly nice" he says "I don't flirt, or we're joking around as friends". He says that he loves me. This is really bothering me because he is surrounded by girls 24-7 and I only know what people tell me. I try to have my friends straighten him up when he does flirt with someone else, but I don't know if it works. What should I do?!

J, figuring out what is flirting and what is just being friendly can be a really hard thing to do. I've had people come up with the worst pick-up lines possible to start a conversation and there has been guys that came up and just introduced themselves and started a conversation. Both could definately be seen as flirting. You've already covered my first piece of advice; make sure that he understands that you don't like it. If he thinks that you don't care about it, then he might start to think that you don't care about other things. Having your mutual friends keep an eye on him and "keep him in line" is a good thing, but please remember that they can only go so far. If he does something out of their vision or hearing, then you might never know. There is one thing that you could do that may seem impossible after what you've heard from your friends; trust him. If he has a naturally outgoing personality, then he might not realize that what everybody thinks he's doing is flirting. If the two of you do love each other, then there is a bond and a trust that needs to be built. By telling him how you feel, it could help to bring him around to thinking about the way he's acting and help make your bond stronger. He might be surrounded by women "24-7" like you said, but, as long as you keep his true feelings towards you, then you won't have to worry about all of the others.
