Dear Nurse Ansalong:
How do you think ROCKY HORROR has changed over time?
-Hypertranny
Hypertranny, I think that RHPS has changed as it's gotten older. It seems to be more accepted than it was in the past. There are still people who look down on it, but there is also a growing group of people, including many parents, who grew up with the film and who enjoy it. RHPS has also seemed to become a sort of "right of passage" for teenagers. Also, one of the best aspects of it's age is the idea that, when you go to see ROCKY, you'll be accepted, no matter what. I can't count the many amazing and strange things that I've seen since I started performing, but the people who come out to the show accept everyone there and welcome them in. You could be dressed totally normal, or in drag, or in lingerie and no one would put you down for expressing yourself how you want to. It's just like Frank sings every week, "Don't dream it. Be it."
