Dear Nurse Ansalong:
Why do you think people like RHPS?
-Trannie
Trannie, this is the question that my Mom asks me everytime I talk about something ROCKY related. While it's a very simple question, there is no simple answer. Personally, I like RHPS for a couple of different reasons. First, I love the music and lyrics. Ever since I was a little kid, I've been really into music and I had never heard anything like the first night that I went to see the film. The music rocked and the lyrics had me waiting to hear what was coming next with each song. Another reason why I like RHPS is the film's mantra (i.e. message)-"Don't dream it. Be it." In a world that tries to force everyone into a predetermined space and idea of what he or she should be, this film builds up the idea that it, if you believe in something, you should do it. This could go from being who you really are and not hiding behind what is expected of you to just having the guts to try something that you haven't done before. The final reason that I like RHPS is more of a personal one. Through the film and the different casts that I've performed with and met, I've discovered new things about myself and also have made many friends that I will hopefully keep for the rest of my life. It's so much fun and exciting to get up on stage and perform that I don't know what I would have become if I hadn't joined the cast. Everybody's reasons will probably differ from mine, but that's okay. One of the great things about RHPS is that it's totally open to everyone's ideas and beliefs, no matter what. So don't let anyone tell you that you shouldn't like ROCKY! ; )
