Starlet, the lyrics are actually kind of straight forward. It sounds like he's traveled a lot, but "... Everywhere, it's been the same; Like I'm outside in the rain." It sounds like he's been looking for a form of acceptance, but was shunned everywhere he's been. At the moment that he's singing the song, he's realizing how much he actually misses his home planet and now wants to go back home and stay there. As the song ends, he appears to be crying with joy as he realizes he's finally going back home. He's just homesick and has finally realized where he should be.
