Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I want to start a cast in my own town but a) I don't think any cinemas would like us and b) I don't know how to tell people that I want to do this!
-Serafine

Serafine, starting a new cast can seem like a very hard thing, but, if you keep trying, it could happen to you. About the theatre problem, you might want to try to talk to your local Theatre Managers and see what their thoughts are. While some might not be receptive, others could surprise you with their interest. If they have questions about the audience's "mess" or security problems, offer to sit down with him/her at a later date to decide everything. Once you know the interested theatres, then you can go back with more concrete ideas and plans to sell the Managers with. About telling people that you want to start a cast, there really isn't any way around it. If you have another friend who is interested, you might want to organize a meeting of people in your area who are interested. You would put up flyers advertising this meeting with a phone number where you can be reached for directions. This way, you'll get all of the interested people in one room to start off with. Whatever you do, I wish you all the luck.
