Dear Nurse Ansalong:
First off, I think I'm in love with my best friend. Second, he lives really far away. Well not way far away, but like 45 miles. I'm only 14, and I can never get a ride to his house. Which is a major problem because we were planning to double costume for Halloween this year with me as Magenta and him as Riff. What can I do!?

Artemis, there are a couple different ways to get to see him. I know it's not the most attractive way to get there, but if there is a mass transit (bus, subway, train, etc) way to get where you need to go, you could do that. If you're nervouse about asking an adult, try to figure out if there is a place that the two of you could meet halfway. Shopping malls are very good for this. You could ask for a ride to the mall from your parents and tell them that you're meeting friends there to go shopping. For the costume question, you could send emails checking on how he's doing or where to meet up before the show. It might seem totally difficult right now, but give it a little thought, and everything will work out in the end.
