Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I'm going insane. I live in a small town, and I can't stand all the people here. I'm 14 years old, and I can't meet anyone even slightly interesting. Everyone here is so conformist and closed minded. I have kinda out there interests and attitudes, and no one else i know shares any of them. All the people I know are snobs. I'm dying for a friend that I can actually talk to. What should I do?

Jabberwocky, there are a couple things that you can do. See if there are any places near you that cater to your interests and try to meet some new people there. If that doesn't work, then you could try to leave messages on message boards or classifieds sections on web sites that you check out. When you leave a message, leave the area that you're in. Someone near you could read it and want to send off a message right away. Lastly, check out the different chat rooms around the web to find like-minded people. There are friends for everyone out there. If you give it a little work, I think you'll be able to find them.
