D, the first thing that I'd tell you is don't just walk up to him and tell him how you feel. If he's really shy, this could scare him off. Depending on how close the two of you are, you could always try to make the first move and ask him out. Don't make it seem like "THE BIG DATE" or anything like that. Go out to coffee or somewhere else where you both can talk. This way, you'll get to spend time together, have fun, and help him to get more comfortable to be around you. Slowly easing a shy person into a relationship is much better than just throwing them into it.
