Dear Nurse Ansalong:
Why are Riff Raff, Magenta and Columbia in the chapel scene? And why does the Criminologist point them out on the projector?
-Jessica Harper

Jessica, one of the ideas that most people have about why they're in the chapel scene is that it's the cover story so that no one gets suspicious about a group of newcomers arriving in a small town. Who would suspect that those nice people who work down at the church could also be aliens bent on taking over the world? There is also a little joke in that Riff and Magenta are made up to look just like the famous painting (whose title escapes me right now) that is hung in the front room of the castle. And, from the markings on the film, it looks like they didn't fool the Crim with their disguises.
