Dear Nurse Ansalong:
Ever since I saw RHPS on Cinnemax last year, I've acted differently towards everyone. The only people who have seen it in my life are my teachers and my youth pastor (that took me by surprise). I haven't always fit in, but now I really don't fit in. I spend most of my time with adults. I have one friend and I know only one kid who's seen RHPS. My life sucks. I'm having fun and doing, listening, watching what I want, but I still don't fit in. I don't get how "Manson lovers" fit in when he's just like Frank. Why?

Byron, I wouldn't feel bad that you don't "fit in" with the people around you. There are so many people in this world, all with differing views and beliefs, that it would be almost impossible for everyone to agree. Depending on where you live, these differences might show up more. A ROCKY fan in New York City would not be out of place. But, put this person in the middle of a Nebraska farm community, and the differences might appear. And don't be surprised if people do see the change in you. The people that have spent a lot of time with you, like your youth pastor, would be able to see the difference in your personality. To me, the reason why "Manson lovers" can fit in is because of the conotations in the two different characters. Marilyn Manson appears like something that escaped from a freak show, so he's taken more on the shock value and the certain look that he has. Also, the fact that he's using many of the same tricks that others, like Alice Cooper or Ozzy Osbourne, have done before, most people know what they're going to get. Frank, on the other hand, has an added dimension - his bisexuality. In many places in this world, the ideas that Frank stands for are still very taboo and not accepted by most of the population. While Marilyn Manson "fits in" because of the familiarity we have with his strangeness, Frank's sexual ideas and beliefs move him into an area that some people still, for some reason, can not accept.
