Mary, if you're talking about someone that you met on the Internet, then it would probably be for the best if you told this person the truth. If anything happened between the two of you and this person found out after the fact, the results could be much worse than if you told the truth at the start. If you're confused on how to tell this person, the best way is to just tell him/her. In cases like this, it's usually good to be honest.
