Dear Nurse Ansalong:
I seem like half the people here. I'm a young teenager and am totally absolutly obsessed with ROCKY HORROR and everything to do with it. I have no idea why as I've never taken to liking something as much as this. My parents think it's strange and even I'm starting to think its strange. When I go to school each day, I'm like the quietest kid around (aka none of the kids know i like RHPS). Is RHPS kinda something to let my emotions and feelings be released and let me be the real "me" instead of me pretending to be someone else, like a different personality?

Hopeful, you answered your own question. For many people, RHPS is a place where they can be themselves. They don't have to worry about the outside world laughing or hurting them. This could be anything, from being gay to feelings of sexual repression to actually having a good time in a world that can be anything but. In the world of RHPS, everyone is allowed to be whoever they want to be. I've seen people with "real jobs" come to ROCKY and have their personalities change. Also, ROCKY lets you act however you like. If you want to show up fully dressed or in very skimpy lingerie, it's all okay. And yes, it is totally normal to think it's strange to be so interested in a film. My parents have always thought it was kind of strange when they'd see me packing up my costume for the show, corsets and all. Then there was the night that I was performing Columbia but I was stuck at my parent's house for a family reunion. I knew I wouldn't have the time to do my make-up at the show, so I went into the bathroom and did myself up right there. When I walked out of the bathroom, you could hear the gasps from the rest of my family. They had never seen me in my Columbia make-up and I think it was a little shock, especially for my grandmother...
