This CD is a Rocky Horror compilation released in the UK only.
All of the material included on this compilation has been previously released on
other recordings. In fact, every single track on this disc is included on
the TRHPS 15th Anniversary Box Set.
Also, even though the title calls it the "Ultimate & Best" of TRHS, it actually includes
quite a bit from TRHPS Original Soundtrack, as well as one of TRHPS radio promos, and a track from TRHPS Audience Par-ti-ci-pation Album.
And there there are a lot of songs from the Original Roxy Cast album. Personally, I really don't feel that this disc truly offers the "Ultimate & Best" of TRHS, but then again
that's just my opinion.
When compared to other Rocky Horror compilations, this one is
probably one of the most disappointing. Nothing offered on this disc is rare or
unusual, and it really lacks originality. I really don't think the
people who compiled this album knew too much about Rocky Horror.
Why three versions of 'Eddie's Teddy'? Why does it credit 'I'm Going Home'
(from TRHPS) to Meat Loaf and Company? Funny, all this time I though it was Tim Curry.
(They must know something we don't.) Would it have been too difficult to at least include one version
of each song in the show? (Like the compilation Rocky Horror International, found in TRHPS 15th Anniversary Box Set
did.)
I can really only recommennd this disc to the hard-core Rocky Horror collectors, *or*
to anyone who does not own the TRHPS 15th Anniversary Box Set.
There's nothing on this compilation that you have not already heard.
MISSING TRACKS: 'Over At The Frankenstein Place,' 'Charles Atlas Song (reprise),' 'Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch Me,' 'Once In A While,' 'Super Heroes,' amd 'Science Fiction/Double Feature (reprise)'
*****AVAILABILITY*****
This album has only been released on CD in the UK. I'm not sure if it is still in
print or not, because it is extremely difficult to find in the U.S. Since this
CD is an import and it is sort of rare, if you do come across it, it may be priced high.
But since nothing on this album is not available elsewhere, one may
question whether it's worth the hassle. Footlight Records stocks this title from time to time, so you may try mail-ordering it from them.
