THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW: "Sing It!"

THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW:
"Sing It!"

*CD*
1995, Ode Sounds And Visuals/Rhino Records, R2 72178

This album was released around the time of TRHPS' 20th anniversary. This album has only been released on CD, but in my opinion, it is one of the all-time best Rocky Horror audio releases ever produced.

The album is the very first to feature every single song from TRHPS (even 'Once In A While'); it only leaves out the end of 'Planet Schmanet, Janet.' This album contains the entire TRHPS soundtrack in a karaoke-like format, with all of the main vocals taken off.

This album is a sheer delight for die-hards of the film. Here on this album, you can really here Richard Hartley's classic arrangements and orchestrations. Also, the album features all the songs UNCUT, before they were somewhat butchered in the final mixing of the film and soundtrack album. For example, although the vocals are missing, Brad's verse from 'Over At The Frankenstein Place' is included, as well as The Criminologist's verse in 'The Sword Of Damocles.' Also 'Planet Schmanet, Janet' is slightly different from the version used in the film.

You can hear so much on this album that is almost impossible to hear on the TRHPS Original Soundtrack. After one listen to this album, you'll have a new respect for the arrangements of the music for the film. A round of applause goes to Richard Hartley for originally creating these songs, Lou Adler for giving this project the green light, and to Rhino Records for releasing this fabulous recording.

The CD booklet also contains all the lyrics to the songs, as well as several stills to go with each song.

This recording is a DEFINITE must-have.
